About Gateway


Singer and entertainer David Ward founded Gateway Studio and the Gateway School of Recording in 1976. Born in Balham it was named Gateway after the famous Peter Sellars record Balham Gateway to the South, famously produced by Sir George Martin

Gateway was the first independent Recording School in Europe and Gateway Studio was originally one of the first Project Studios. It advertised "Recording by Musicians for Musicians"

Gatewaypdt has trained staff for many of the major manufacturers and suppliers in the Creative Industries. It has recently been creating the Industry Accreditation Programme for JAMES, the entertainment industry alliance of industry organisations.

Of late Gateway has developed the new JAMES membership structure for students, academics and industry partners of JAMES (the Friends). Gateway is an Education Friend of JAMES

About Gateway Courses


The Key words for all Gateway courses are Holistic, Rigorous, Fun, Relevant and full of tools for people to take away as well as information.

Great attention is paid to the needs of participants and the atmosphere within which the course is conducted. Context is as important as content. Fun is mandatory because that is how we learn better.

Courses are structured embracing the latest learning research including Emotional, Social and Accelerated Learning, learning styles and multiple intelligences, as well as the latest research in neuroscience and neurophysiology related to learning.

We have learned from Howard Gardiner, George Lucas's Edutopia, Dale Hunter, Roberto Assagioli, Peter Senge, NLP, Genie Laborde
