Frequently Asked Questions

  • Do I have to be an expert?

Definitely NOT. These courses are designed for people who have expertise in their own sectors, but want to learn more about other sectors. These courses are also fun.

Of course some people will come with some knowledge, which is great, but we assume no knowledge at all. The only entry qualification is a thirst for learning.

  • Are they suitable for teachers?

These courses give essential contextual information for teachers and give the basis for more advanced courses. These courses are ABOUT the industry, not, however, how to operate equipment.

There will be new courses especially designed for teachers at all levels. They will give instruction not only in operating equipment but also on pedagogical aspects of music technology

  • Are the courses a training in Sound Engineering or Producing Films?

NO. These are orientation courses for industry personnel, they are not training to be a sound engineer, film director, record producer or cinematographer.

If you are contemplating a career in these areas, these courses might be a good orientation to what would be expected of you.

  • Are the courses suitable for Careers Officers?

YES, they definitely are. They give a good context to our industries on which to build more knowledge.

There will be follow up courses especially designed for Careers Officers with information about giving careers guidance.
